From the 90s to luxury—a bathroom renovation at Leabrook.

A professional couple with a background in the medical industry trusted us with turning their 90s-inspired ensuite into a luxury-inspired delight.

The brief was to create a minimalist, clean, timeless look that felt high-end and inviting, but which was also functional.

We identified and corrected existing water damage.

There was already some suspicion of water damage in the shower alcove before we commenced the renovation. During demolition however, we were able to reveal the true extent of the damage. Due to failed waterproofing, a stud wall and a large portion of the bedroom floor needed to be replaced.

With clever layout changes, we opened up the space.

The bathroom’s existing layout was transformed to create visual space and allow more natural light to flow through it. We also removed a dividing wall separating the bath and shower areas.

Amenities were upgraded for better functionality and pleasing aesthetics.

We replaced an old drop-in bath with a 370kg freestanding stone bath, and juxtaposed pendant lights for a beautiful focal point without stealing the show. We also installed a 1.5m niche to the external wall of the double shower for storage and convenience.

A new double basin wall-hung vanity was built in silk matte white, with elegant push-to-open drawers and a caesar stone top to finish. We included a vanity mirror from benchtop to bulkhead to add even more depth and space.

The devil’s in the details.

We introduced heated towel rails and underfloor heating timed to come on at 5am, making the bathroom a pleasure to start the day in every morning. We also used Italian porcelain tiles to cover the walls and large tiles to cover the floor.

Meanwhile, brushed nickel fittings and fixtures were selected to blend in with the rest of the bathroom, which was carefully designed so not one element would dominate—rather, we wanted to create the sense that the space smiled at you from every corner.
